The weekend TV guide: Friday 16 October to Sunday 18 October
Sunday is the day I am most looking forward to: Premier League football with an NFL accompaniment. Welcome to a weekend that gives the remote precious little rest.
Friday 16 October
7.00pm Eredivisie: SC Heerenveen v SBV Excelsior. SC Heerenveen sit tenth, SBV Excelsior ninth; the crowd prefers the hosts at 56%, with 2-0 most called.
7.30pm Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt v 1. FC Köln. Eintracht Frankfurt have 53% support against 1. FC Köln, despite sitting fourteenth to their visitors’ tenth. Tables, apparently, are not everything.
7.45pm Serie A: Frosinone Calcio v US Sassuolo Calcio. Frosinone Calcio attract 65% against US Sassuolo Calcio; the leading 1-0 call suggests a modest helping.
7.45pm Ligue 1: Le Mans FC v Toulouse. Le Mans FC sit fourteenth, Toulouse fifteenth. Home and draw share 41% apiece: splendid fence-sitting territory.
8.00pm Championship: Burnley FC v Wolverhampton Wanderers FC. Burnley FC are twenty-first; tenth-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers FC receive 52%, with 0-2 the most called score.
8.00pm La Liga: RC Deportivo La Coruña v Levante. Levante lead support at 41%, yet 2-1 for RC Deportivo La Coruña tops the score calls. Deliciously awkward.
Saturday 17 October
12.30pm Premier League: Everton v Chelsea FC. Fifth-placed Everton host sixth-placed Chelsea FC, but 69% favour the visitors. Some lunchtime food for thought.
12.30pm Championship: Watford v Charlton Athletic. Watford draw 52% support against Charlton Athletic, although 0-0 leads the score calls. Keep that eyebrow raised.
12.30pm Championship: Millwall v Lincoln City FC. Millwall sit eleventh to Lincoln City FC’s eighteenth; 52% favour home, while 0-0 is most called.
12.30pm Championship: Middlesbrough v Cardiff City FC. Second-placed Middlesbrough welcome nineteenth-placed Cardiff City FC; 47% favour the hosts, with 2-1 leading the calls.
3.00pm Premier League: Brentford v Liverpool FC. Fourth-placed Brentford outrank ninth-placed Liverpool FC, yet 42% choose the visitors. Another table-versus-crowd discussion awaits.
3.00pm Premier League: Fulham v Hull City AFC. Fulham sit twentieth, Hull City AFC eighth, but 61% expect a draw; 1-1 is the preferred compromise.
3.00pm Premier League: Manchester City FC v Ipswich Town FC. Leaders Manchester City FC command 91% against Ipswich Town FC. The crowd has scarcely hesitated.
5.30pm Premier League: Newcastle United FC v Aston Villa. Newcastle United FC receive 33%, Aston Villa 36%, the draw 31%. Pass the deciding biscuit.
Sunday 18 October

2.00pm Premier League: Leeds United v Manchester United. Leeds United and the draw each receive 37%, leaving Manchester United on 26%. Certainty takes Sunday off.
2.00pm Premier League: AFC Bournemouth v Sunderland. Eighteenth meets seventeenth: AFC Bournemouth have 55% support against Sunderland, with 2-1 most called.
2.30pm NFL: Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville Jaguars draw 63% against Houston Texans. A change of sporting menu, without leaving the armchair.
4.30pm Premier League: Nottingham Forest v Arsenal FC. Fifteenth-placed Nottingham Forest host second-placed Arsenal FC; 74% favour the visitors, with 1-2 most called.
6.00pm NFL: Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts. Indianapolis Colts edge support at 53% against Tennessee Titans’ 47%. Hardly a chorus of certainty.
6.00pm NFL: Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons. Chicago Bears receive 53%, Atlanta Falcons 47%. Another evening selection with room for disagreement.
6.00pm NFL: New Orleans Saints at New York Giants. New York Giants lead New Orleans Saints by 53% to 47% in the calls. Debate duly invited.
